About Me

I came to this work through my own experience.

I struggled with social anxiety, insecurity, and self-doubt for years — and I was intellectual enough to understand all of it. I could analyze my patterns, trace them back, explain their logic. What I couldn't see was that I lived almost entirely in my head, at a distance from my body and emotions.

All that understanding moved nothing. I still felt anxious. Still doubted myself. Still ran the same responses.

That gap — between knowing and feeling — is what pulled me into this field. I studied neuroscience and cognitive science at McGill to understand how change happens at the level of the brain, and what I found matched my experience exactly: the beliefs that drive behaviour don't care what you know consciously. They live deeper, and they update through experience, not analysis. Going there myself — into the body, into direct experience — was what finally shifted things.

The approaches I use now — AEDP, Coherence Therapy, IFS, somatic and embodiment work — all target that level. Not your thoughts about your experience. The experience itself.

Underneath the clinical training sit two longer-standing influences: contemplative practice — including Buddhist psychology — and cognitive science. They're two languages for the same question: how experience is constructed, and how it changes. Both shape how I work more than any single method does.

In sessions I'm direct, fairly challenging, and there's a lot of humor. Warmth, but not softness. Emotional material comes up and we work with it live, and things tend to move faster than people predict.

My clients are adults and couples — a good number of them founders, executives, physicians, and fellow therapists, people who arrive having already understood themselves thoroughly. That used to be me. I know the terrain, including its favourite hiding spots.

Outside the office: stand-up comedy — the art of delivering difficult truths in a form people can actually receive. I trail run, travel, and think about how people change.
